Psalm 28

Of David.

¹To you, Lord, I call;
    you are my Rock,
    do not turn a deaf ear^(A) to me.
For if you remain silent,^(B)
    I will be like those who go down to the pit.^(C)
²Hear my cry for mercy^(D)
    as I call to you for help,
as I lift up my hands^(E)
    toward your Most Holy Place.^(F)

³Do not drag me away with the wicked,
    with those who do evil,
who speak cordially with their neighbors
    but harbor malice in their hearts.^(G)
⁴Repay them for their deeds
    and for their evil work;
repay them for what their hands have done^(H)
    and bring back on them what they deserve.^(I)

⁵Because they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord
and what his hands have done,^(J)
he will tear them down
and never build them up again.

⁶Praise be to the Lord,^(K)
    for he has heard my cry for mercy.^(L)
⁷The Lord is my strength^(M) and my shield;
    my heart trusts^(N) in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,^(O)
    and with my song I praise him.^(P)

⁸The Lord is the strength^(Q) of his people,
a fortress of salvation^(R) for his anointed one.^(S)
⁹Save your people^(T) and bless your inheritance;^(U)
be their shepherd^(V) and carry them^(W) forever.

Zechariah 11:4-17

New International Version

Two Shepherds

⁴This is what the Lord my God says: “Shepherd the flock marked for slaughter.^(A) ⁵Their buyers slaughter them and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, ‘Praise the Lord, I am rich!’ Their own shepherds do not spare them.^(B) ⁶For I will no longer have pity on the people of the land,” declares the Lord. “I will give everyone into the hands of their neighbors^(C) and their king. They will devastate the land, and I will not rescue anyone from their hands.”^(D)

⁷So I shepherded the flock marked for slaughter,^(E) particularly the oppressed of the flock. Then I took two staffs and called one Favor and the other Union, and I shepherded the flock. ⁸In one month I got rid of the three shepherds.

The flock detested^(F) me, and I grew weary of them ⁹and said, “I will not be your shepherd. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish.^(G) Let those who are left eat^(H) one another’s flesh.”

¹⁰Then I took my staff called Favor^(I) and broke it, revoking^(J) the covenant I had made with all the nations. ¹¹It was revoked on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the Lord.

¹²I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.^(K)

¹³And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”—the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver^(L) and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord.^(M)

¹⁴Then I broke my second staff called Union, breaking the family bond between Judah and Israel.

¹⁵Then the Lord said to me, “Take again the equipment of a foolish shepherd. ¹⁶For I am going to raise up a shepherd over the land who will not care for the lost, or seek the young, or heal the injured, or feed the healthy, but will eat the meat of the choice sheep, tearing off their hooves.

¹⁷“Woe to the worthless shepherd,^(N)
    who deserts the flock!
May the sword strike his arm^(O) and his right eye!
    May his arm be completely withered,
    his right eye totally blinded!”^(P)

Revelation 19:1-9

New International Version

Threefold Hallelujah Over Babylon’s Fall

19 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude^(A) in heaven shouting:

“Hallelujah!^(B)
Salvation^(C) and glory and power^(D) belong to our God,
² for true and just are his judgments.^(E)
He has condemned the great prostitute^(F)
who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.
He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”^(G)

³And again they shouted:

“Hallelujah!^(H)
The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”^(I)

⁴The twenty-four elders^(J) and the four living creatures^(K) fell down^(L) and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried:

“Amen, Hallelujah!”^(M)

⁵Then a voice came from the throne, saying:

“Praise our God,
all you his servants,^(N)
you who fear him,
both great and small!”^(O)

⁶Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude,^(P) like the roar of rushing waters^(Q) and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!^(R)
    For our Lord God Almighty^(S) reigns.^(T)
⁷Let us rejoice and be glad
    and give him glory!^(U)
For the wedding of the Lamb^(V) has come,
    and his bride^(W) has made herself ready.
⁸Fine linen,^(X) bright and clean,
    was given her to wear.”

(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts^(Y) of God’s holy people.)

⁹Then the angel said to me,^(Z) “Write this:^(AA) Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!”^(AB) And he added, “These are the true words of God.”^(AC)
